Making Bro Machno a prosperous valley by securing local amenities for future generations
What is Cynnal Bro Machno?
A brief overview…
Cynnal Bro Machno (translated as “Sustaining Bro Machno”) is a campaign running in the Machno Valley, in rural north Wales, initially focussed on the future acquisition of the village pub…The Eagles, as a community-run asset.
Although the future community ownership of The Eagles is currently an urgent priority, Cynnal Bro Machno is also dedicated to addressing local affordable housing issues. Our objective is to explore opportunities to purchase and renovate local properties, and provide affordable homes for members of the local community.
We are overseen by a legally registered Community Benefit Society called Cymdeithas Dai Bro Machno, which is regulated by The Financial Conduct Authority.
Owning a piece of Penmachno’s future
The Eagles Community Ownership Bid
A traditional country pub, The Eagles truly is the heart of the Bro Machno community. in mid-2025 The Eagles came under threat of closure and the community came together to try and save our pub! As the only pub in the valley, closure would have had a huge detrimental effect for local residents and businesses alike.
Why Did This Matter?
- The Eagles is more than a pub – it’s a hub for social life, events and visitors
- By investing, you helped keep this vital space in community hands
- Every share purchased strengthened Penmachnos resilience and heritage
But we needed YOUR help!
We needed to raise an ambitious £150,000, to help us in our aim to buy the pub building and business.
We ran a very successful share offer which gave everyone the chance to invest in the future of this exciting project, raising a total of around £146,000.
You can still donate to our fundraising efforts, and any contributions would be massively appreciated.
Community Ownership Update
We are delighted to announce that, as of August 2026, all funding is now in place for the community ownership of The Eagles to take place.
Cynnal Bro Machno managed to raise an incredible figure of around £470,000 through a combination of our share offer and grant funding from numerous sources.
A tremendous amount of hard work and effort went into achieving this, and we thank everybody who has been involved.
Where did the money come from?
- £15,000 from the Eryri Community Funds supported by Eryri National Park Authority and Welsh Government
- £90,000 from the Conwy County Borough Council Pride in Place Impact Fund
- £220,000 from the Welsh Government Community Facilities Programme
- Plus the £145,000 from our incredible Shareholders
THANK YOU!

Our share offer closed on 4th May 2026
We would like to say a massive THANK YOU to everybody who supported us and invested in our share offer.
